About the artwork

This striking mixed‑media portrait presents a seamless fusion of Madonna and Queen Elizabeth II, their features interwoven to form a single, dual‑faced icon. The forward‑looking visage carries the poise and authority associated with the Queen, while the profile subtly evokes Madonna’s unmistakable silhouette, creating a dialogue between monarchy and pop stardom. Rendered in elegant monochrome and energised by turquoise and pink spray‑paint accents, the work balances classical portraiture with a bold urban edge. Metallic textures, splattered paint, and graffiti‑like gestures animate the background, amplifying its contemporary character. Ornamental motifs around the head hint at both a crown and a halo, reinforcing the interplay between sovereignty and celebrity. Framed in black, the composition feels powerful and self‑contained, inviting reflection on how cultural icons—royal and rebellious—shape modern visual mythology.
