Dan Pearce's "Scent from Above" is a vibrant limited edition, hand-embellished mixed media artwork that masterfully fuses classic iconography with contemporary street art influences. The piece reimagines an iconic 1953 photograph of a young Marilyn Monroe by Alfred Eisenstaedt, placing the legendary star's portrait within the outline of a Chanel N°5 perfume bottle. This powerful juxtaposition blends the timeless glamour of Hollywood and high fashion with the raw energy of urban art, as Pearce overlays the image with bold, brightly coloured graffiti tags and energetic drips. Shades of fuchsia, hot pink, and yellow dominate, creating a high-octane visual effect that draws the viewer in, offering a playful yet thought-provoking modern reflection on beauty, fame, and consumer culture.
About the artist:
Dan Pearce is a leading British contemporary artist renowned for his innovative mixed-media portraits that bridge the gap between street art and Pop Art. His dynamic style, which has drawn comparisons to artists like Warhol and Lichtenstein, is a vibrant and controlled explosion of energy, colour, and texture. Pearce creates "high-octane pieces" by seamlessly blending techniques and materials such as graffiti, traditional painting, collage, textured resin, and occasionally unconventional elements like smashed glass. His work often features portraits of cultural icons, and he is one of the UK's most talked-about and collectable contemporary artists, with his art being sought after by celebrities including Rag'n'Bone Man, 50 Cent, and various Premiership footballers. Pearce, who is based in South East London and honed his love for urban art during seven years in Sydney, has been exhibiting his artwork internationally since 2013 and is also known for his philanthropic efforts, raising money for several charities through the sale of his art.
