Hamilton Sloan was born in Belfast N.Ireland in 1945, just after the end of the Second World War. His ambition to paint was prevalent from a young age, influenced initially by some of the great Irish painters Morris Wilks, Frank McKelvey and Humbert Craig.

In the late 1980’s Hamilton began to paint professionally following a sell-out solo exhibition in the Magee gallery in Belfast. He continued to exhibit widely in a wide range of galleries both in the North and South of Ireland. His work has been presented to well-known individuals including Ian Paisley, Bertie Ahern, Seamus Mallon and Albert Reynolds, and purchased by private collectors public bodies in Ireland, the UK and abroad. Initially, when he painted from his home studio in Comber, his focus was mainly watercolour. he also illustrated the Kate Thompson book "Magical tales of Ireland - published by Random House.

From 1998, he lived and worked in the West of Ireland for four years, where he developed his work in oil paints to capture the rugged landscapes and people who worked there. He has been living and working in Bangor since 2009 where he has continued to broaden and develop his work with new techniques, including in recent years, a more colourful and vibrant palette.

The Hamilton Sloan original watercolour landscape painting titled "Royal Hillsborough" features a medium-sized hand-painted with watercolour, showcasing the stunning beauty of the Royal Hillsborough region in Northern Ireland. The artwork depicts various elements such as a church, castle, fort, and lake, capturing the essence of the picturesque landscape. Signed by the artist, this unique painting is mounted and framed, making it a one-of-a-kind piece for art enthusiasts to appreciate.
