About the artist:

Henry Charles Fox (1855–1929) was a prolific British painter, best known for his atmospheric watercolour landscapes that lovingly documented the vanishing Victorian rural life in the south of England, particularly in Surrey, Kent, and Sussex. As the industrial age progressed, Fox captured an idealised, tranquil vision of the countryside, frequently depicting rural scenes featuring farm animals, country lanes, and farm workers engaged in their daily toil, rendered with a delicate, soft-edged technique and an earthy palette. A respected figure in the art world, he exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1880 onwards, and was elected a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) in 1889, ensuring his enduring popularity as a chronicler of the pastoral English landscape at the turn of the century.

This signed watercolour painting by Henry Charles Fox RBA depicts a charming scene of cattle on a village lane. Created in 1914, this large artwork showcases the artist's skill in capturing the essence of rural life, with a focus on farming and animal themes. The use of watercolour technique adds a unique touch to this one-of-a-kind piece, which is mounted and framed, making it a stunning addition to any art collection.
