Broadtown Hare

In this painting, the hare is sitting in a field of golden hay under the watchful eye of the moonlit downs. This work is a study in quiet patience, capturing a single, attentive moment in the stillness of the night.

Joanna aimed to capture the essence of the hare as a creature of the land, one that is deeply in tune with the cycles of the seasons. To link the natural forms of the rolling hills with the scene, she purposely used modern circular hay bales. The gentle curves of the bales and the soft waves of the landscape beyond mirror each other, creating a sense of quiet harmony. The few scattered stars in the deep blue sky serve as distant silent witnesses to the hare's peaceful vigil.
