About the artist:

Lewis Mitchell (born 1938) is a self-taught Cornish painter celebrated for his unique, vivid, and decorative style, which places his work firmly within the realm of British folk or naïve art. Born in Penzance, Mitchell is known for his highly detailed application of paint and his use of pure, bright colour to create visually busy compositions, taking influence from David Hockney. While his repertoire includes still life subjects, he is perhaps most recognised for his fantastical landscapes of Cornwall that often incorporate elements of the sea and sky, such as ships, aeroplanes, and hot air balloons, imbuing the familiar coastal scenery with a sense of playful wonder. His distinctive approach has led to his work being exhibited in galleries both in Cornwall and internationally.

The product is an original oil painting on board titled "House at Marazion" by artist Lewis Mitchell, created in 1967.
