Paco Raphael, a Dutch artist born in 1975, is known for his dynamic, multi-layered mixed media works that blend traditional and digital techniques. He began his creative career in multimedia design, working with major brands before transitioning into fine art. His art is heavily influenced by his passion for urban life, graffiti, skateboarding, and hip-hop, which he developed growing up in The Hague. Raphael travels the world to photograph cityscapes, which he then digitally fuses with images from vintage posters of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, incorporating themes of cinema, music, and typography. He finishes each piece by hand with paint, pens, and stencils, giving every artwork a unique, tactile quality. Raphael's work blurs the line between art and design, with his ambition extending beyond the canvas to the creation of everyday objects like furniture and fashion.
