About the Artwork
Dreamscape presents a human skull rendered with electric intensity, its structure dissolving into cascades of neon hues that vibrate against a shifting blue‑to‑yellow backdrop. The eye sockets are saturated in deep, velvety blue, pulling the viewer inward, while the surrounding planes fracture into expressive strokes of pink, turquoise, yellow and indigo — each mark carrying the urgency of a gesture made in motion.
Across the surface, geometric motifs such as triangles, diamonds and angular outlines interlock with more fluid symbols — a turquoise clover‑like form, a small heart — creating a dynamic tension between precision and spontaneity. The teeth are stylised into sharp, jewel‑like shapes outlined in black, giving the lower half of the skull a rhythmic, almost architectural quality.
Through layered paint, visible brushwork and saturated colour fields, Fowler generates a sense of restless energy. The skull becomes not a static emblem of mortality but a living conduit for colour, emotion and symbolic play — a vivid example of his contemporary, high‑chromatic approach.
About the Artist
Tim Fowler is a contemporary British painter known for his vivid explorations of portraiture and symbolism, where colour becomes both subject and emotional register. Working with neon pigments and gestural mark‑making, he reimagines familiar forms — most notably the human skull — through layers of abstraction that oscillate between structure and spontaneity.
Fowler’s practice draws on themes of identity, memory and cultural inheritance, yet his treatment remains fluid and intuitive, privileging energy and immediacy over literal representation. His work has gained a strong following across UK galleries for its unmistakable visual rhythm and its ability to transform traditional motifs into something boldly contemporary, resonant and alive.
