Amanda Gordon is a largely self-taught British artist known for her watercolour paintings of wildlife, particularly animals found in the UK. She began her career creating pet portraits in pencil before developing a loose, fluid style with paint. Her work is characterised by the unpredictable and spontaneous nature of watercolour, which she uses to capture not just the physical appearance of animals, but also their movement and emotional essence. She often uses both naturalistic and more vivid palettes, and finishes her paintings with a splatter effect to add texture and depth. Gordon draws inspiration from the wildlife she observes around her home and garden studio on the Hampshire/Surrey border, painting subjects such as foxes, kingfishers, herons, and roe deer.
