About the Artwork
Govinder Nazran’s Gangster series is one of his most recognisable bodies of work, blending bold geometric abstraction with his signature abstract figurative style. Each variation presents a unique interplay of deep reds, blacks and gold accents, framed within Govinder’s characteristic square compositions. The minimalist linework, delicate gold detailing and stylised forms create a refined visual language that collectors instantly associate with Govinder’s artistic identity.
These four variations — Gangster I through Gangster IV — were published by Washington Green in 2003 as signed, numbered limited editions. Their compact 25cm × 25cm image size paired with the larger 50cm × 50cm framed presentation makes them ideal for display as a cohesive set, offering strong visual impact without overwhelming a space.
The prints are produced using high‑quality photo lithography on Consular Feltmark paper, ensuring clarity, longevity and excellent colour retention. Each piece retains its original Washington Green frame, which shows expected marks and knocks from age but remains presentable for display.
