About the Artwork
Lonely is a striking limited edition giclee print by celebrated British artist Govinder Nazran. Instantly recognisable as one of the artist's distinctive feline compositions, the work depicts an elongated blue cat emerging from a richly textured field of deep cobalt and midnight blue tones. Through a remarkably economical use of line, form and colour, Nazran creates an image that is both visually captivating and emotionally engaging.
The composition demonstrates the qualities that made Nazran one of Britain's most beloved contemporary artists. The cat's luminous form appears almost suspended within the darkened background, whilst the artist's subtle use of pattern and texture provides depth and complexity beneath the seemingly simple image. The piercing eyes become an immediate focal point, drawing the viewer into the enigmatic world that characterises so much of Nazran's work.
Although minimalist in appearance, Lonely possesses a remarkable narrative quality. The solitary figure, dramatic colour palette and elongated vertical format combine to create an artwork that feels both contemplative and sophisticated. The result is a piece that works equally well as a decorative statement and as a highly collectable example of Nazran's distinctive artistic vision.
Lonely was originally conceived as a companion piece to Sad, with both works intended to be displayed together as a complementary pair. Whilst this listing is for Lonely only, collectors may wish to consider acquiring the accompanying work should it also be available, as the two images create a particularly effective visual relationship when hung side-by-side and represent the artist's original concept for the series.
Measuring approximately 24cm × 80cm (9.4" x 31.5"), the artwork's unusual vertical format gives it excellent wall presence despite its modest footprint. Professionally framed and accompanied by its Certificate of Authenticity, this limited edition example offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a sought-after work by one of Britain's most distinctive contemporary artists.
We highly recommend pairing "Sad" and "Lonely" - a great cat and dog pairing, see "Sad" here.
