About the Artwork

Poppies and Palms is a vibrant and atmospheric original oil painting by internationally collected Yugoslavian-Israeli artist Heddy Kun. Rich in colour and Mediterranean character, the composition depicts a tranquil garden scene where brilliant red poppies bloom before a charming villa framed by elegant palm trees and abundant flowering borders.

The painting is dominated by a striking foreground of scarlet poppies, their vivid tones contrasting beautifully against the cooler greens and blues of the surrounding landscape. Layers of pink, purple and golden flowers create depth throughout the garden, while the softly rendered architecture introduces a sense of warmth and human presence within the idyllic setting.

Kun's expressive brushwork and confident use of colour are evident throughout the composition. Rather than focusing on strict realism, the artist captures the atmosphere and beauty of a sunlit Mediterranean retreat, creating a scene filled with vitality, light and decorative appeal. The palm trees rising above the garden reinforce the painting's exotic and escapist character.

Measuring approximately 20cm × 20cm (8" x 8") and presented within an attractive gilt frame with linen slip measuring approximately 39cm × 39cm (16" x 16"), this charming cabinet-sized work offers excellent display presence and would complement both traditional and contemporary interiors.
