About the Artist:

After finishing high school in 1996, Moses worked with two friends performing sign writing for banners and billboards, and printing tee shirts. From this experience, he created Fabricdesigns in 1997 that was based at Ezixelele Hlombe and later at Vosloorus Art Centre. As his career progressed, he attended the Artist Pro Studio where he performed print making for three years. This was a non-governmental organisation which helped black artists. While there, Moses taught art at an informal school in Hillbrow, called the Creative Inner City Initiative (CICI).

Moses' career as a self-taught artist began in earnest in 2000 when he began drawing and painting through the inspiration of Picasso, Ben Macala, Gerald Sekoto and other world renowned artists. At Zicelele Ihlombe Gallery, he studied fabric painting, sculpting and screen printing. In 2001-2004 he received a bursary in artist proof studio to study printmaking. In 2003 Moses took his art to new frontiers by studying formally at the South African Printing College. His art works were exhibited at the Art on Paper Gallery in Melville, and at many other galleries. He is also featured in Dirkie Offringa’s book, “Walking Tall Without Fear”, 24 South African Artist’s from the struggle era.

In 2005 he obtained another bursary in South African Printing College, to study graphic design and flexography printing. This artist captures the connoisseur’s eye and is often referred to as the African Picasso, with his colourful cubism and abstract figures done in acrylics on canvas. Moses has show cased his art at the Cape Town Art Market through Michael Canes, the La Concorde African exhibition and the Gerald A Lee gallery in Norwood, Johannesburg. Born in 1979 in a town east of Johannesburg, called Daveyton.
